TSTAP Series - MODEL 12976
C/E/F-Band Antenna and Two-Axis Pedestal
![]() |
TECHNICAL SYSTEMS ASSOCIATES Model 12976 C/E/F-Band Antenna and Pedestal System consists of an internal servo driven two-axis pedestal and a dual channel antenna and rotary joint system. This system can be positioned in elevation and azimuth by externally controlled digital inputs with accuracy to within 0.1°. The pedestal is capable of simultaneously rotating the antenna in azimuth up to 45°/sec and from -5° to +95° in elevation. |
The Model 12976 C/E/F-Band Antenna is comprised of a 72" diameter reflector antenna coupled with a WR284 dual channel waveguide and horn assembly. This emitter antenna operates in the C and E/F frequency band. Other frequencies are available. The system has a minimum power handling capability of 60kW for the C-Band and 400 kW for the E/F-Band.
The two-axis pedestal is equipped with a pulse width modulated servo drive system and power supply. The externally controlled pedestal is capable of simultaneously rotating the antenna in azimuth while positioning it in elevation. The rotating velocity and elevation travel of the pedestal is software-limited but can be designed to meet specific customer requirements. Two specially designed low backlash, heavy duty steel spur gear systems provide durable as well as reliable means of positioning a payload. A 650:1 ratio provides extremely smooth movement. An integrated slip ring/rotary joint package allows signal routing through the pedestal. Electro-mechanical limits at the elevation axis extremes, interlock switches on the access doors, as well as stow pin mechanisms and brakes on both axes provide an added safety measure.
The pedestal receives digital commands from a remote computer input. Resolvers located in each axis transmit azimuth and elevation positioning information accurate to within 0.1°. An azimuth offset capability is included in this system. The offset feature allows the user to program the desired offset for alignment purposes. Circuit protection for the system is provided via a 6 amp circuit breaker located within the pedestal. Cable lengths to 400' interface the remote control source with the pedestal.
This system is specifically designed to our customer's requirements.
