MODEL 12975
Two-Axis Tracking Pedestal

The Technical Systems Associates TSTAP Series Model 12975 Two-Axis Tracking pedestal consists of a two-axis pedestal with an internal servo drive system. This system can be positioned in elevation and azimuth by externally controlled digital, analog or joystick inputs with accuracy to within 0.1°. The pedestal is capable of simultaneously rotating a payload in azimuth up to 45°/sec and from -5° to +95° in elevation.

TWO-AXIS PEDESTAL

The two-axis pedestal is equipped with a pulse width modulated servo drive system and power supply. The externally controlled pedestal is capable of simultaneously rotating a payload in azimuth while positioning it in elevation. The rotating velocity and elevation travel of the pedestal is software-limied but can be designed to meet specific customer requirements. Two specially designed low backlash, heavy duty steel spur gear systems provide durable as well as reliable means of positioning an attached payload. A 650:1 ratio provides extremely smooth positioning. A slip ring package allows signal routing through the pedestal. Electro-mechanicalk limits at the elevation axis extremes, interlock switches on the access doors, as well as stow pin mechanisms, nd cranks, and brakes on both axes provide an added safety measure.

TWO-AXIS PEDESTAL CONTROL

The two-axis tracking pedestal is capable of being remotely positioned in azimuth and elevation. The tracking pedestal receives digital, analog, and joystick commands from a remote input. Resolvers located in each axis transmit azimuth and elevation positioning information accurate to within 0.01°. The tracking pedestal may be commanded via a joystick input or controlled by a remote computer input. An azimuth offset capability is included in this system. The offset feature allows the user to program the desired offset for alignment purposes. Circuit protection for the system is provided via a 6 amp circuit breaker located within the tracking pedestal. Cable lengths to 400' interface the remote control source with the pedestal.
