The Technical Systems Associates TSSAP Series Model 11275 Antenna & Pedestal System consists of a rate controlled antenna pedestal coupled with a high power emitter antenna. The system uses a single axis azimuth command pedestal with internal rate control circuitry and an RF rotary joint. It is suitable for shipboard or severe coastal environments. The single-axis azimuth pedestal is capable of rotating the antenna assembly clockwise or counter-clockwise at speeds up to 30 rpm. It is equipped with a pulse width modulated servo drive system and power supply. A custom gear system is specially lubricated to provide long life and low maintenance. A stow pin mechanism provides electrical isolation and mechanical locking of the pedestal. A defeatable interlock switch located on each access door provides an added safety feature by electrically deactivating the pedestal.

This pedestal has three modes of slew operation that are selectable in the control box located on the exterior of the pedestal. The fixed slew rate control allows speed selections of 0, 10, 20, and 30 rpm with a pre-set speed accuracy of +/-1%. The directional toggle switch allows selection of CW or CCW. The manual slew mode is controlled by a 10 turn precision dial potentiometer allowing the operator to continuously vary slew from 0 to 30 rpm in either direction.

The antenna is a truncated parabolic reflector with offset horn feed operating from 2.9 to 3.1 gHz. Other frequencies are available. The antenna is coupled to a WR284 waveguide and rotary joint. Polarization is horizontal. The feed is sealed with a Kapton window allowing pressurization to 15 psig. The RF system is capable of handling 800 kW peak, 200 watts average. The antenna head may be easily removed for replacement with another type antenna.
